Kirton Brook I

A swan flies gracefully over an abstract Suffolk landscape in this lovely limited edition lino print. It makes me think about the arduous migration journeys our birds often undertake, twice a year, simply in order to survive. I find it incredible to imagine how far they fly between their summer and winter homes, and I marvel at the grace and determination with which they face the task. Having spent a good part of my life living in other countries, I see such a contrast between how they face the journey and how we humans often do… Not for them the worries about packing, or the stress of making sure they’ve got the right documents, or any nervousness about whether they’ll ‘fit in’ once they get there… unlike us, they travel unencumbered by the “stuff” and full of confidence in themselves.
